The Ohio Peace Festival is a celebration of community, unity, and peace in all its forms. Emphasizing events by the people of Ohio for the people of Ohio, the Festival focuses on peaceful collaboration within and among communities. We seek to celebrate and enhance understanding of diverse approaches to peace and community building through politics, art, health, industry, and beyond. We welcome any and all ideas and suggestions for events that build positive peace throughout Ohio.
We are welcoming submissions for inclusion to the Peace Festival and promoting them on our site and other media as long as they are positive and promote community, unity, peace, and justice. We do not accept submissions that are partisan, negative, or seek to allocate blame to any community, group, or individual.
Columbus Moving Image Art Review

The Columbus Moving Image Art Review (CMIAR) is a screening event for local Ohio artists, filmmakers, animators and anyone who uses moving images as a creative art form. CMIAR was developed by two local moving image artists who wanted to create a way for the seventh art of film to return to the presentation medium of the cinema house and create an outlet in the Columbus area beyond being featured as an exhibit or installation in a gallery.
CMIAR 27 will be programmed with moving image work from submission for the Ohio Peace Festival’s short Film competition. CMIAR is sponsored by the OSU Film Studies Program and Nicolettecinemagraphics.
Films of all modes, and styles under 40 minutes will be accepted for the contest awards. A selection of submissions will be curated and screened on either June 7th as part of a shorts Program or June 8th as part of a features program at the Gateway Film Center. The awards will be announced at this screening.
The call for submissions is open from now until May 8th.
Submission is free and open to filmmakers of all levels and ages.
All films submitted should focus on the ideas of Peace that are part of the festival that is happening throughout the week.
We ask all filmmakers to consider these three ideas and how they apply to your film:
“It can only be achieved by understanding.”
“Ignorance is a menace to peace”
“The opposite of war is not peace, its creation”
These ideas can be included as a general theme, a line of dialog or text, or even be part of the title of the film. When completing the submission form, make note of how at least one of these ideas influenced your film.
A panel of curators from The Ohio Peace Festival and the Columbus Moving Image Art Review will award a first, second, and third place prize during the screening event on June 7th at the Gateway Film Center.
The awards will be award as the following:
Best Film – $500
2nd Best Film – $300
3rd Best Film – $200

To be considered for this contest all submissions materials must be received by the deadline of May 8th. This includes the submission form as well as a high quality version of your film that is at least 720P and 8mbs or higher.
The film can be submitted by mail on DVD, or data disc (no encoded blurays will be accepted).
