The Columbus Moving Image Art Review (CMIAR) will host its 35th quarterly local moving image screening event on Friday July 13th from 8:00pm to 9:30pm at Hagerty Hall 180. CMIAR is a screening event for artists residing in Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas. CMIAR was developed by two local moving image artists who wanted to create a way for the seventh art of film to return to the presentation medium of the cinema house.
Free and open to the public.

CMIAR 27 – Ohio Peace Film Competition

Ohio Peace Film Competition 

The Ohio Peace Festival, The Columbus Moving Image Art Review, The Mershon Center for International Security Studies, The OSU Film Studies Program and The Gateway Film Center have come together to create a film festival to inspire people around Ohio to engage with the idea of peace through film. Regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, orientation, or experience as a filmmaker, we want to see films created from all walks of life.

Brief Submission Rules
We ask all filmmakers to consider these three ideas and how they apply to your film:

“It can only be achieved by understanding.”
“Ignorance is a menace to peace”
“The opposite of war is not peace, its creation”

These ideas can be included as a general theme, a line of dialog or text, or even be part of the title of the film. When completing the submission form, make note of how at least one of these ideas influenced your film.

Films should be under 40 minutes in length and must be submitted by May 8th 2016.
A panel of curators from The Ohio Peace Festival and the Columbus Moving Image Art Review will award a first, second, and third place prize during the screening event on June 7th at the Gateway Film Center.
The awards will be award as the following:
Best Film – $500
2nd Best Film – $300
3rd Best Film – $200

Screening Date: June 7th 2016
